In view of the subsequent youth suicidal cases in Hong Kong in 2023, the Hong Kong Mental Wellness Association (HKMWA) collaborated with the Hong Kong Social Workers Association (HKSWA) to launch an emergency youth mental health support project, WeCare. Support Our Students (SOS). Officially launched in December 2023, the programme targets to address the escalating trend of students’ suicide, and aims to facilitate early identification, appropriate and timely treatment of students showing signs of stress and suicidal risk. These students are referred by school social workers to receive free consultation and medication from community psychiatrists. The programme will soon move into its Phase II.
